Goals
-
To
improve the students’
reading levels
by supplementing the current reading program at
the school
-
To
provide one
on one mentor attention
-
To
build the children’s
self esteem
through regular contact with a committed, caring
adult
Volunteers
Volunteers make a commitment to meet with their
Buddy 1 hour, each week for individualized
reading instruction during the school day.
Because the value of this program lies in the
consistency of volunteer/student meetings,
volunteers are asked to commit for at least
one-semester, preferably the entire school year. Our
volunteers consist of students, retirees,
professionals and just about anyone else you can
imagine. The flexible design of the program
allows just about anyone to work time with a
buddy into their week!
Students
These students are 1st through 3rd
graders who have demonstrated a need for
additional reading aid.
We are not currently
recruiting for Bookworm Buddies, due to the
amount of time left for the children in school.
We will be recruiting for the program again this
summer.
Make A
Difference provides the training session and
facilitates the fingerprint and background check
process.
If you
have any questions, please contact the Bookworm
Buddies staff
at

bookwormbuddies@makeadifference.org.
Becoming a Bookworm Buddy
means one more child will have a better
chance at succeeding!
