       Educational Programs

Educational programs not only give volunteers a fun and rewarding experience, they are also important in building the self-esteem of the children they work with.  All of our educational programs give the children at local shelters and under-resourced schools the chance to interact with caring adults in an enjoyable setting.

Below are Make A Difference’s signature educational programs. You may click the links below to find dates, times, and locations of the projects or visit the Projects Calendar.

For information on the following educational programs, please contact  bookwormbuddies@makeadifference.org or call 602-973-2212.

Spend a rewarding evening learning new and exciting things with the children at the Salvation Army family homeless shelter. Each session, the children learn about and discuss a new subject through interactive activities, stories, and crafts.

Read To Me
(click for more info)

The Read To Me program introduces children to the importance and enjoyment of reading at an early age.  Currently Make A Difference hosts the Read To Me program at three Valley area shelters: The Salvation Army Family Shelter, UMOM "New Day Center", and Andre House.

Youth Programs
(click for more info)

Everyday more and more youth are making the effort to become involved in their community.  Community service is a great way for youth to become familiar with the issues facing their community today.  Hands on service projects enable them to feel like they are really making a difference.

Click on Youth Programs to find out about our family friendly projects which allow families to experience meaningful volunteer projects together.  There are family friendly projects that accept volunteers as young as 8 years old.
